The Ituen Basi label was launched in Lagos, Nigeria, to critical acclaim. A celebration of individuality and feminism, the label is a stylish combination of timeless elegance with a contemporary twist, synonymous with cutting edge design aesthetic. Its first full home based collection in 2009, started a new era of Ankara interpretation in Nigeria and Africa. Ituen Basi’s refreshing celebration of the ubiquitous Ankara print in all its glory typifies the label’s iconic signature that has withstood the test of time.
The innovative label’s eclectic dialogue of elegance and sophistication punctuated with whimsical exclamations ensures brilliance in every detail.
The ever-evolving label took the beading and fringing from its earlier collections and used it as the base of its print work for its ‘Double Take’ collection at the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Africa. For the same collection, Ituen used iconic images from her previous work to create the newsworthy newsprint fabric, which was a big hit with ‘friends’ of the label.
For its Spring Summer 2014 Ituen Basi collaborated with the amazingly talented Nigerian Artist Victor Ehikhamenor to produce the beautiful ‘Ekemini’ collection first previewed at the inaugural Vogue Fashion Dubai Experience.
